Virginia IMPACT has reached the conclusion of the Virginia Department of Health’s Virginia Long-Term Care Infrastructure Pilot Projects funding period. Included in this was our Project ECHO-supported infection control virtual learning series, consisting of 12 webinars, accessible below in Previous Learning Sessions. We are in the planning phase for additional educational opportunities and will share out that plan with the community of practice in the near future

The Virginia IMPACT Spring 2024 series (April 17, May 15, and June 12) will focus on the causes and management of chronic infections in older adults, including those who access medical care in congregate environments. The series is meant to initially address this topic from a foundational standpoint, considering aspects such as socioeconomic and psychosocial issues, as well as behavioral health and substance use disorders. Specific chronic infections to be covered will include Hepatitis C and HIV and how to best manage these diseases in the context of care recipients with functional and cognitive impairments and behavioral health needs.
